Cheesy Bacon Chicken Recipe
This recipe is a family favorite, and once you try it, it might just become yours too!
Ingredients:
- 3 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 6 slices of thick-cut bacon
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/3 cup chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven:
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and allow it to preheat while preparing the chicken. - Prepare the chicken:
Cut each chicken breast in half lengthwise, creating 6 smaller pieces. Season both sides of each piece with salt and pepper according to your preference. Place the chicken in a baking dish and bake for 25 minutes. - Cook the bacon:
While the chicken is baking, cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the bacon until most of the fat has rendered, but before it becomes too crispy, as it will continue cooking in the oven. - Assemble the chicken and bacon:
After 25 minutes of baking, remove the chicken from the oven. Cut each slice of bacon in half, and place two pieces on top of each chicken breast. - Bake with bacon:
Return the chicken to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes to allow the bacon to cook fully and infuse the chicken with its flavor. - Add cheese:
Remove the chicken from the oven once again, sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheddar cheese over each piece. Return to the oven for another 5 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly. - Finish with green onions:
Once the cheese has melted, remove the chicken from the oven and sprinkle chopped green onions on top for a fresh burst of flavor.
Tips:
- For an extra kick, add a sprinkle of smoked paprika or chili powder before baking the chicken.
- Serve with a side of mashed potatoes, steamed veggies, or a crisp salad.
