Best Homemade Salsa Ever Recipe

This easy, flavorful salsa comes together in minutes and tastes just like your favorite restaurant-style salsa. Perfect for dipping chips, topping tacos, or adding a kick to any dish!

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (28 oz) whole tomatoes with juice
  • 2 cans (10 oz each) Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 whole jalapeño, quartered and sliced thin
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin (optional, for extra depth)
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions:

  1. Blend the Ingredients
    • In a food processor or blender, combine whole tomatoes (with juice), Rotel tomatoes, chopped onion, garlic, jalapeño, sugar, salt, and cumin (if using).
  2. Pulse to Desired Consistency
    • Pulse the mixture several times until you reach your preferred salsa texture—chunky or smooth.
  3. Add Lime and Cilantro
    • Stir in lime juice and fresh cilantro.
  4. Adjust Seasoning
    • Taste and adjust salt, lime, or heat levels as needed.
  5. Chill and Serve
    • Let the salsa sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Serve chilled with tortilla chips or as a topping for tacos, burritos, or grilled meats.

Bonus Tips:

  • For extra heat, add another jalapeño or leave the seeds in.
  • If you prefer a milder salsa, remove the seeds from the jalapeño before adding.
  • Storing in an airtight container will keep the salsa fresh for up to a week in the refrigerator.

Enjoy this homemade salsa with your favorite Mexican dishes!
